Edward Enninful in conversation with Academy Award winner, Lupita Nyong’o
“Edward’s journey is a lesson for the culture and future generations to come. He is an inspiration.” —Naomi Campbell
Your New York Fashion Week experience begins at the Apollo with a special evening celebrating the iconic Edward Enninful. The world-renowned editor-in-chief of British Vogue and European editorial director for Vogue graces the Apollo stage for a not-to-be-missed conversation about his life in fashion as detailed in his highly anticipated memoir, A Visible Man.
Born in Ghana, Enninful gravitated toward fashion early on in his childhood exploring his dressmaker mother’s sketchbooks. After his family immigrated to London due to political unrest, Enninful honed his penchant for fashion starting out as a model before later becoming a stylist, writer, and eventually an editor. At the tender age of 18, he successfully rose through the ranks to become the fashion director for i-D Magazine.
Having secured a seat at the table, Enninful chose to give his life to championing diverse representation in the industry. Edward spearheaded “The Black Issue” at Italian Vogue which featured only Black models. In 2017, Edward became editor-in-chief of British Vogue, making him the only Black person to serve in this role in the history of Vogue.
In Conversation: Edward Enninful is a part of the Apollo’s Fall 2022 season.
