Don’t miss this edition of Apollo Music Café with guitarist, vocalist, composer and producer Yasser Tejeda. Born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Tejeda gives traditional folkloric music a new spin with jazz, rock, and Caribbean rhythms in “a frenzied celebration of ancestral union” (Billboard, 2019). This Berklee College of Music alum’s debut album Mezclansa was dubbed one of the “100 essential recordings of Dominican music” by the Nation’s Association of Art Writers (Acroarte).
Perfect for date night, or a night out with friends, the Apollo Music Café series has served as a launching pad for numerous artists for more than 11 years, showcasing their unique artistry in an intimate nightclub setting. The series features diverse performances across a myriad of genres (R&B, hip hop, soul, jazz, pop, funk, and rock), and showcases artists drawn from the independent music scene who are making their mark in the industry. Doors open at 9pm; Showtime is 10pm.
Apollo Music Café: Yasser Tejeda is a continuation of the Apollo’s 2022-2023 season, The Next Movement, an exploration of what’s new, now and next in music, dance, art and ideas.
