This is the first event in a nationwide celebration of the Theater’s history and future, a spectacular night in New York City. We will honor legendary artists, entertainers, and community leaders at a unique one-night-only concert and party at the Apollo Theater. The concert features outstanding performances by some of the greatest entertainers in the world and simultaneously showcases the Apollo’s devotion to today’s performing arts in their multiplicity.
On our 75th Anniversary, we are thrilled to be honoring incomparable artist, producer, and influencer, Quincy Jones, and the dynamic, Grammy Award-winning songstress, Patti Labelle, as they join Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, and other illustrious luminaries inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame.
Also, as a part of the awards ceremony, we will bestow the Ruby Dee & Ossie Davis Arts and Humanitarian Award upon Camille & Bill Cosby. This award, named after the late Ossie Davis and his wife, Ruby Dee, is given each year to a couple who embodies the powerful beliefs of this unique pair: a rarified command of their craft, a deep commitment to their community, and an unshakeable connection to each other and their family.
We will honor the corporate citizenship of The Coca-Cola Company, a worthy company that has demonstrated a respectable commitment and responsibility to the Theater and its community.
The evening will be hosted by Steve Harvey with star-studded appearances and performances by The O’Jays, Anita Baker, Mariah Carey, and Jamie Foxx.
Following the performance will be a star-studded evening at the Apollo Supper Club—a unique lounge atmosphere created by renowned designer, David Monn featuring the generous, gourmet creations of Great Performances; plentiful libations courtesy of Belvedere, Hennessy and Moët & Chandon; and late-night dancing with one of the hottest DJ’s in New York City, DJ D-Nice.
This event is the Apollo’s largest annual fundraiser and all proceeds of this Gala will benefit the Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, dedicated to preserving and developing the Apollo Theater and its initiatives for performing artists, educational programs, and community outreach efforts in New York City and beyond.
